Gira Ingoma in the 30 Districts of Rwanda

Gira Ingoma – One Drum Per Girl is a joint education program by the Woman Cultural Centre (WCC) in collaboration with Ingoma Nshya, Women’s Initiatives (INWI), that seeks to ensure girls and women participation in the creative and cultural industries.

Building on seven years of training thousands of girls in eleven primary and secondary schools in Huye and Gisagara districts, the tenth edition of Ingoma Nshya Festival comes to support the consolidation and scaling of Gira Ingoma: 30 new schools from all the 30 districts of Rwanda will be invited to join Gira Ingoma – One Drum Per Girl, building a national platform for gender equality across economic, social, cultural, and political dimensions.

The aim is to build durable, institution‑level partnerships that enable national scale‑up and allow Gira Ingoma to transition from project delivery to system‑level adoption. The first national network meeting is planned to take place in July 2026 with the funding of the University of Lincoln (UK) through Mobile Arts for Peace (MAP).
